Fat Guy in a Little Coat

BLACK WEDNESDAY

Back in the day when Valhalla was a not-so-fat guy in a little jacket, he was a DJ on the great SW Side of Chicago. And every year, I worked the Gin Mill on Black Wednesday(BW). Now BW is a night that anything can happen and usually does - women who wouldn't look at me if my hair was on fire suddenly want to make out. Guys who owe me money pay up. Old friends show up out of nowhere. BW is a night full of possiblities. Nowadays, law enforcement has become more proficient & high-profile on this night of nights, making it a bit riskier to be out - so I encourage you all to heed the following advice:

Make your life and Thanksgiving ALOT easier by NOT driving if you're going to party. I make arrangements to be dropped off and when it's over, I take that $20 I stashed out, call a cab and arrive safe, sound and most importantly, NOT in handcuffs. If you've ever had to bail someone out on Thanksgiving morn, you know the definition of "one fucking miserable-long day". My buddy, Magoo, calls it "planned alcoholism" on "amatuer night". He's not THE smartest guy around, but in this case, he knows of what he speaks!
Be smart - be safe. We still got NYE to get through.....and now, where are da women?!

Short Week, YAY!

Short work week, couldn't come sooner, either. Nice of the Pumpkins to postpone a Saturday night show to a MONDAY NIGHT! You fucking boneheads! I'll get my refund, thanks....

Ok, no real intellectual gems today, just want you all to have a nice, relaxed holiday. Enjoy being with your loved ones, don't overeat and watch a great old movie or two. After seeing these pictures, I can justify my facination with Australia. Can anyone give me ONE good reason we shouldn't give co-citizenship to our Aussie friends??? I'm willing to take any of these travellers in to my home should they like to pay Chicago a visit.....

See you after the Looooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnngggggggg weekend!

Monday....

What a weekend~ Hawks game Friday night, out with the boys Saturday night and a Crazy Trivia night on Sunday. Stopped at the Gin Mill after the hockey game and it was Barb's birthday. Barb is milfy goodness, very cute and VERY married, but she shuns the hubby an awful lot. If he wasn't such a Db, I'd feel REALLY sorry for him. I still felt bad, though, Barb was drunk and hanging on a few regulars, cussing out the Hubby to his embarrassment. She attached herself to me like an overly-amorous beagle and refused to let go, trying twice to engage in what I refer to as a "deep kiss". Not letting that happen with Hubby standing arm's length away. She tried to shoo him home, but he wasn't leaving without her this time, which was a good idea. There was big trouble in the offing had he not taken her home. Anyway, Saturday night, I'm the last of our group left at the Gin Mill (that's two nights in a row!) and I'm feeling somewhat frisky but not too - in walks the Troll. Troll is a bit of an easy go, sweet but not very bright, nice petite body but rather homely facial features. In other words, last call. She's always had an eye for me, but for the sake of my reputation, I never went there - this fine evening, she would put me to the test.

More later......

How did I miss HER?!

Two beauties I never really saw on television when I had the chance...but I heard about them both and my friends were right. I never watched "The Hills" with Audrina Partridge.

And I never watched that show, "Life" with Sarah Shahi..

Whew! That's some great looking women!

REAL Crazy

Ran into an old classmate from high school & college. I had heard he was a manic-depressive and had some problems with his business & marriage, but I hadn't seen him in at least 10 years. When I walked into the Gin Mill, there he was, sitting by himself - so I said hello & sat next to him. For the next hour he talked about our old mutual acquaintances, the locals and then, his wife & work situation. She had been cooking his books and skimming thousands off the top, which brought about a lot of trouble between them. Seems he's doing OK now, but he then he said something that made the hair stand up on my arm: "I told her the next time she fucks up, I'm coming for her. She knows she can't stop me and I told her 'it's OK, I'm going with you. It will be alright, we're both going' - it all depends on how long she wants to see her kids grow up." He said he wouldn't make it in prison, so he would kill her then off himself. Then he smiled and laughed and bought me a shot.

Seldom do things disturb me like that, but that sent a chill up my spine.

Real crazy is DEFINITELY out there, maybe closer than you think.

Simple Plan to Pay Down the National Debt~

Legalize it. Put it in the same class as alcohol - same laws, same DUI punishments, etc. Then, start taxing it. Think of the jobs that would spring up! It would not only reduce our debt, it was also bring that violence factor WAY down - which would be a big plus. C'mon, President Elect Obama, it's at least worth considering an Adult Marijuana Usage Law.

Nose-Picker of the Week

Thanks to some character named "jc" who left a comment that was stupid, we have a new award - Nose-Picker of the Week. It's only right that "jc" should be the first loser this award goes to - we may even name it after him at some future date, because I'm sure there's a whole treasure trove of stupidity behind that oh SO original screen name.

Congratulations, jc!!

Friday! Let's get the FUCK outta here!

Damn, this week is finally over....

Got the Double Ocho fixed (my car, a 1994 Delta 88 - White old man's car, no less!) and I'm supposed to meet an old gal pal for a drink later on. Thanks to those that have checked out this blog - I appreciate it. Pass the word and keep the feedback coming. Jerry's DJ @ the Gin Mill tonight and I may have to knock back some Tanqueray's & Squirt tonight - maybe even a Jager or two! lol. I need a break from watching all that political stuff for the past umpteen weeks - go out and have some fun. You all do the same, have a great weekend and maybe I'll have a good story or two for you next week~

Candy for your eyeball...

Welcome to the Gateway

Thoughts on this "Thors"day, Gateway to the Weekend......

Congrats, Chicago! Amidst all those who predicted violence & rioting, you showed the world what civilized citizens can do. You looked great on television and even better to the rest of the World. I love my hometown.

Smartest Thing I Heard a Pundit Say:

There's a positive charge in the air right now, it would be a good time to start engaging people in the actually work involved in making "change" happen.

He was talking about turning those campaign workers and supporters into volunteers - mentors, community organization, citizen neighborhood watch programs. These can be started right away and would have an immediate impact, especially in the economically disadvantaged areas. Hard-work takes consistent practice and along with it comes pride in doing something positive.

If I Were the President-Elect:

I would seriously consider John McCain for Head of Homeland Security. Why not? The man has experience and he's a task master - we need a guy who enjoys putting a foot in peoples' asses. He can start with the TSA.....

Finally, IMHO (In My Humble Opinion):

It's time for the U.N. to move it's HQ OFF U.S. soil. Certain nations not only take advantage of the fact it's in NY, but there is rampant disrespect for our country. We would save millions of dollars by having them move and give ourselves a better position of leverage.

Ok, that's it for the serious stuff this week.....

Feel free to comment, send photos or drop me a line with suggestions or topics you want to see.

In the meantime, beautiful women........

Let's Get to Work

Well, it happened. Obama is the President Elect and there's definitely a change in attitude, if only for the moment. It's like changing jobs, there's that anticipation, that excitement of starting something new. But after a couple of weeks, you realize, it's STILL a job and you still have to get up & go to work. The real difference doesn't hit you for a couple of months, when you know that either you like what you're doing and the people you work with better than your old job or you get that feeling you should have never left. I've said it before & I'll say it again - I don't know why anyone would want that job.

It was interesting, too, how nonplussed the crowd in Grant Park was by the presence of all those attention-whore celebrities that showed up. I laughed when I saw Oprah standing in the crowd along with everyone else, too funny! Overall, Midwesterners aren't as impressed with celebrities as much as they are with themselves....

Finally, for those few idiots that predicted riots and violence in the wake of the Grant Park celebration, a big FUCK YOU. Chicagoans acted with respect, excitement & joy - the last thing on their minds was to hurt each other.

Let's hope the rest of the nation can pick up on that vibe and start working together.

Congrats, Pres. Obama - now punch in & get to work!
